Fred F. Caldwell is the CEO of Caldwell Companies, an award-winning, fully integrated real estate development firm based in Houston, Texas. Since its founding in 1990, Caldwell Companies has built a reputation for developing exceptional master-planned communities and rental residential developments, grounded in long-term value creation and a faith-based culture. The company has been recognized for more than 20 years as a Houston Business Journal Best Place to Work and has been named GHBA Developer of the Year multiple times, most recently in 2025.
A proud Texas A&M University alumnus, Fred earned his undergraduate degree in Accounting in 1982 and his Master’s degree in Finance in 1983, all while competing as a member of the Aggie football program. He was a three-year football letterman and starting defensive lineman, playing under legendary head coaches Jackie Sherrill, Tom Wilson, and R.C. Slocum. His Texas A&M experience—and the discipline, teamwork, and accountability forged through football—has profoundly shaped his leadership philosophy and approach to building teams and organizations.
Fred has remained deeply engaged with Texas A&M throughout his career, serving on the Mays School of Business Advisory Board and the 12th Man Foundation Board of Trustees, and was named a Distinguished Alumni of Mays Business School in 2018. He has also served on the Lone Star College Foundation Board, Cypress-Fairbanks Educational Foundation, and JH Ranch boards.
Fred is the author of Flying Your Business: Leadership Lessons from the Cockpit, which reflects his passion for aviation and its parallels to leadership and decision-making.
He has been married for 42 years to his wife, Susan, Texas A&M Class of 1982. Their family includes daughter Amanda Grace, a Texas A&M graduate, and her husband Stephen; daughter Lindsey and her husband Michael, a Texas A&M graduate. Fred and Susan are blessed with three grandchildren—Leo, Lucy, and Amelia.
